Abstract artist Kathryn Gastelum is a Tucson, Arizona native that deeply admires the desert beauty.

Attending the University of Arizona, she received her degree in Graphic Design in 1987. During her college years she studied abroad with Southern Methodist University (SMU) program to Paris, France for Studio art and Art history classes. While residing with a french family in the 8th arrondissement, many opportunities to travel to surrounding countries were taken. Today, travels to Europe and coast to coast in the USA is imperative for creativity but France has a special place in her heart.

Kathryn worked in Advertising as a Media Buyer until family became most important. Several years later and still passionate about art, Interior Design seemed to be the missing link for artwork and she decided to expand her education at the Arizona Institute of Interior Design. She became affiliated with the American Society of Interior Designers (A.S.I.D) and then joined her husband (Architect/Builder) in 2002 as the Interior Designer for their business Centerline Design & Interiors. Many beautiful custom homes and timeless interiors have been designed.

As time moves on, you realize what you love to do most, and the passion for painting was imperative. Much focus was on attending diverse workshops to learn and evolve, exhibit and hit goals. Her diligence and commitment to painting is very evident.

Color and composition truly inspires her and all the beauty is found in anything, anywhere. It could be the shadows on the wall, to the desert trails when out running or French cafés or Bedouins and camels in the Sahara desert. Everything is captured and creatively expressived on canvas. Kathryn continues to gain momentum in the Art world as her own artwork gains exposure and noriety in other markets, Art Expos, juried shows and competitions.
